Following 2 suspicious ultrasounds mid February (U3/4 categorisation) and an indeterminate FNA at the end of Feb, I was referred for surgery for a hemithyroidectomy (right removed) and this was done on 11th March. My surgeon said he was expecting to see me on 28th March to follow up and provide results but when I chased this with the hospital appointments line, it had been missed. I eventually got an appointment for 4th April but as this clashed with a medical appointment for my son (that we had waited 2 years for), I submitted a request online to reschedule/amend. Instead of this they cancelled and said they could not offer me an alternative at that time and to contact them again at the end of the month (4 weeks away) if I had not hear from them. I contacted my GP who sent them a letter to chase. I was then given an appointment for June, 3 months after the operation. I called again and they passed the issue onto a supervisor to investigate and they would call back. 5 days later I had not had any contact so I managed to get hold of the Consultant's secretary's number. She was super helpful, could not understand why I had been given the June appointment as it was not even with the right team and offered me an appointment the next day with one of their Registrar's.
My question is, can I assume that it is positive news if my appointment is with a Registrar rather than the Consultant? I think I will be ok, good or bad but wondering of I need to arrange for someone to come with me just in case. My colleague has told me that it's usually good news if you see a Registrar in her experience but her diagnosis was manty years ago so I'm aware processes change.
