Lump in neck

Hello, I have an enlarged cervical lymph node, I first noticed it at the start of March. It started off the size of a grain of rice and now, it is a good pea size. I’m not ill, no cold or anything, and the lump is rubbery and not painful at all. I saw my doctor on March 21st and she did bloods which came back normal and told me not to worry. I have been suffering from fatigue for many months and had low grade endometrial cancer in 2020, cured by total hysterectomy. Should I ask for this node to be scanned and/or biopsies? I’m really worried about it,  Thank you

    I'm sorry you are worried about your your enlarged lymph node.

    One of the most common reasons for neck lumps is infection. They can sometimes be felt for a long time.  Most enlarged lymph nodes will return to their normal size eventually, and this can take several months.

    GP's get asked about lymph nodes very often in their daily practice, and the reality is that very few end up being due to cancer.

    You can ask your GP about whether you need to have an ultrasound scan. This is a standard, very established test used to assess lymph nodes, and can give very reliable clinical information. It also helps the doctor to decide if a biopsy is needed.
