I am sorry to hear that you require a PORT for cancer treatment.

I cannot provide medical advice as I am not part of your team. However, it seems that you may be allergic to the plaster covering the wound.

Do you have a specialist nurse who may be able to arrange a dressing change at the surgical unit? Are you able to call your GP and have a practice nurse assess the wound?

It is advisable to seek medical attention sooner rather than later if you are unable to access your specialist nurse or GP practice, then visiting A&E would be an appropriate option.

If you are allergic to the wound covering then please remind the hospital staff to document it in your notes.

Hi Tina, thank you for your reply. I did manage to find an emergency contact number, that I'd been given at the start of my treatment. They gave me advice and were very reassuring. It's much better today.
