Trying to get pregnant

I had my LLETZ procedure 10 day now, and was wondering, does anyone know as soon as the 4 weeks time passes( where we should have vaginally sex, bath, tampons etc) passes.

How long can I start trying for baby as I'm in a hurry...I'm 35 going to 36 snd never had a baby. Who has ever had LLETZ and conceive immediately? I've read too many people saying sex never felt same again, bleeding during sex and premature baby. The *** rude (I'm sorry as I'm a nurse myself)nurse never told me anything even though I kept saying ho mw much I want to try for a baby when all these is over.

Please let me know if you had the procedure and conceive and how long it took. Thanks

  • Hi Jessip and thank you for your post

Thank you for your enquiry. I'm sorry to read about your situation.  It does sound like this is a difficult time for you.

It is safe to resume using tampons, having baths and engaging in sexual activity after four weeks following the surgery, provided that you do not experience any pain, bleeding, or signs of infection.

Jo's Trust has more information which you can read.  A Lletz procedure should not affect your fertility or ability to become pregnant.

It is recommended that you should wait until receiving your results before attempting to get pregnant to ensure further treatment isn't necessary and to allow time for the cervix to heal, which can take up to three months.

I hope you find this information helpful. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the best, take care.

  • Thank you so much Tina, unfortunately I MISTAKENLY had sex yesterday making it 10 days after LLETZ. It was a mistake, well, at least we used condom. I'm worrying out of my mind. whilst we did it, I bled a little but nothing else since then.

I'm considering taking antibiotic just in case of infection because I know the cervix hasn't completely healed.

    Thanks for your help ️
