Holiday Travel Insurance

My wife and I would like to visit our daughter in Canada later this year but I have just found the cost of insurance is very high. I had Bladder Cancer May 2022, including some lymph glands, Surgery removed the bladder and glands and scans since then have all been clear. I am taking part in a Research project at the hospital, and as a result have scans far more often than normal, every 2 months. My question is what risk do I run whist visiting Canada if I only have the standard travel insurance, no cover for Bladder cancer? Is that being foolish?

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I appreciate this is a difficult situation when cancer patients and survivors want to travel or see loved ones. Unfortunately I am afraid we are unable to give a medical opinion on this. Do discuss this as a family and with your specialist but not taking the correct holiday insurance could prove costly.

There is a travel thread on the Macmillan forum if at all helpful.

Take care and if you find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
