Exhausted

Can exhaustion last after completion of Radiotherapy? I had chemotherapy, daily radiation and Brachytherapy completed about 10 months ago, I have been taking progesterone and oestrogen for 4 months. I work full time am a mother of teenagers, but I try to be healthy, exercise and am a healthy weight. I just feel incredibly tired most of the time. Is there any advice what I could incorporate to improve this?

  • Hello Gem-Lou and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the treatment you had last year and that you are still feeling incredibly tired in yourself.

Fatigue can be a problem for many people undergoing cancer treatment and beyond. I appreciate how debilitating it can be but it does sound like you are doing all you can to manage this with exercise and diet.

Alongside the treatments you have had it seems like you are busy working full time whilst bringing up teenagers, which is never easy let alone after all your body and mind has been through.

We have some information about fatigue on our website so do take a look. However I would suggest getting yourself checked out by your doctor. They may wish to check your blood just to make sure there isn't anything else contributing to the tiredness.

I hope you get some more energy and start feeling much better in yourself soon.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Naomi
