2 weeks post mastectomy and reconstruction

My drains were  removed  a week  ago following  a mastectomy  and reconstruction  and the last few days when I lie down  in bed  and move I feel like something  is moving under my implants , maybe fluid  movement and its painful and puts  me on edge almost  like a ripple effect  . This was not happening  the first  week  but has for the last 5 nights. After a few seconds  it stops.

It only happens  when I lie down  in bed not during the day . It is putting me on edge to go to bed x

  • Hello and thank you for posting,

I am sorry you are having this concern after your breast surgery.  You may have spoken to someone already, as we were closed for the bank holiday, but it might be good to chat with someone in your hospital team or your specialist nurse (CNS)

After surgery, from day 5 or so onwards, the healing process kicks in and this can be uncomfortable as tissue and nerves reconnect. But, it is good to touch base with your team and let them know how you are feeling, as sleep is also essential for healing and recovery.

Take care and if you want to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
