Waiting for test results

My husband has recently undergone numerous tests and biopsies as the doctors suspect Gastric Linitus. They won't provide us with any other information and keep telling us we have to wait until after the MDT on 11/04/24. We were not even told what Gastric Linitis is and only know now after speaking to one of my Ambulance colleagues. I wish I could stop worrying but I am so concerned for our future. My husband is still in hospital (4weeks now) as they are unable to bring his symptoms under control. He has lost 11.6 kg in 3 weeks and cannot keep anything solid down at times he struggles to drink or even swallow. I don't want to Google the disease but would really like some information on what we may be facing. Please can you help?

  • Hello and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to hear about what your husband is going through.

We do have information on gastric linitis and its treatments on our website if you want to read through it. It sounds like the doctors are trying to manage his symptoms and then at the multi-disciplinary team meeting (MDT) decide what treatment may be suitable for him. This will also involve how to manage him nutritionally to help him with eating and drinking. Do also speak with the nurses looking after him if you are worried.

During this time it will be hard to watch your husband feel so unwell with all his symptoms. I hope you have some support. If you want to call us to talk things through with the nurses on our helpline the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

    Take care.

    Sarah.
