Lanreotide side effects.

Good morning,

I had my 1st Lanreotide injection yesterday for Stage 4 metastatic liver cancer yesterday at 12 noon and felt ok until late last night.  I have just had to run to the loo at 550am and had pretty bad upset stomach. Ive previously had a right hemicolectomy in 2019 and reserved about using imodium.  Am I ok to use it, how many loose motions should I wait and how common is it to gave diarrhoea after a Lanreotide injection please?

    I'm sorry to hear that you've been unwell following your 1st treatment yesterday. 

    Unfortunately our nurse team is not available over the bank holiday weekend and so won't be able to answer your question. 

    Please do give your hospital team a call if you've been given a contact number for any health concerns. Alternatively, you can call NHS 111 for advice.

    Apologies for the delay in response after the Easter holidays.

    Hopefully, you may have made contact with your hospital team for further guidance about this. It is always useful to tell them about any side effects that you are experiencing. Loperamide (imodium) capsules can be prescribed, and 2 capsules after each loose stool, up to a maximum of 6 capsules in a 24 hour period.
