Suspected but not yet confirmed

The only symptom I seem to have is a blocked bowel.

I have no pain or signs of blood or vomiting although I have a lifelong problem with flatulance (and dyspepsia).

My push buttons seem to be on strike and although I am aware of poo being present (by self examination) no matter how much I strain nothing or little seems to happen without laxatives. Incidentally in  the same self examination I cannot detect any signs of lumps.

I have sent off through the surgery a poo test.

Can you enlighten me any further?

Thank you.

  • Hello Sirbri, I am sure that if you had a blocked bowel you would be vomiting . Have you tried any natural remedies ? Prunes or increasing your fibre intake with plenty of water ? How long has this been going on for ? Hope you get answers soon ,as it must be uncomfortable too ?  Keep in touch and good luck with bowel test xx

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I’m so sorry for the delay in getting back to you, unfortunately the system didn't notify us of your post sooner.

Hopefully, by now your bowel symptoms have resolved or improved. If not, I'm afraid we can't say what is the matter (diagnose). But only a doctor can make a medical assessment, so we always encourage people to go back and see their GP if their symptoms are persisting.

The NHS website has some useful tips on managing constipation which you may find useful.

I hope things improve for you soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
