Basal cell carcinoma of skin

Hello - I had a mole biopsy at my doctors and after 5 weeks I found my results via my nhs app it says It was a basal cell carcinoma and that its

completely excised.Itcsays on my nhs app that I had a consultation with my doctor yesterday ?

Being bank holiday weekend I cant get an appointment with my doctor till Tuesday night . Does completely excised mean it’s all gone ? I’m really worried

  • Hi Dixiedot and thank you for your post

The definition of completely excised means that the basal cell carcinoma was completely removed and that the margins of the excised tissue were cancer-free.

BCC is the most common type of non-melanoma skin cancer. It generally takes years to develop in most people. Most people will only need surgery as their primary treatment.

The British Association of Dermatology website provides detailed information on basal cell carcinoma which you might like to read.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
