Extreme fatigue

I completed treatment for breast cancer 9 months ago. I’m on Tamoxifen and Venlafaxine (for tamoxifen side effects). I work full time and I work hard at being healthy. But I’m so exhausted I could cry. I can’t focus and I have dreadful sweats overnight. Does anyone else feel like this? I’m struggling. I dont have much faith in my team.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I’m sorry read about your situation.

Cancer and its treatment can cause fatigue. It is is a very common side effect and we have a section on managing and treating fatigue that may be helpful to you. We also have information on managing hot flushes.  It sounds like you are looking after yourself as much as you can to stay as healthy as possible.

If you haven't already done so, do let your breast care team know how you are feeling. If you have a specialist nurse (CNS) involved in your care then perhaps they can provide you with further information. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.   They may be able to recommend some things to help including medications to reduce the hot flushes.

Hopefully, some of our forum users may come along and share their experiences with you. As you have posted in ask the nurses you could try and post on other threads to see if you get more responses.

I hope you are feeling better soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
