Friend dying

A friend is dying  - she was due to have seven sessions of chemo, they stopped it during the second as it was making her so ill - liver failure, etc. So the cancer is spreading - spin, brain - and she is barely conscious. I'm assuming there is no hope.....

  • Hi Siiby and thank you for your post

I am sorry to hear about this situation and appreciate what a difficult and sensitive time this must be for you all.

I am afraid this isn't something I am able to tell you. Estimating someone's prognosis (outlook) is best attempted by a doctor or nurse directly involved in someone's care as they know all about them.  If you have your friend’s permission our advice about this sort of thing is always to talk to the health professionals directly involved and get their input.

Times like this can be very stressful. Some people find it helpful to consider counselling.

I am sorry I cannot be of more help in this difficult time. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Tina
