Bone scan query

Hello everyone. I am stage4 nsclc , I have a stable tumour with no evidence of new disease in my left boron lobe. But the cancer has spread to my pleura. So I woke up after an aborted lobe surgery to the news I was stage 4 in operable and incurable. But I have hope I am on a targeted therapy called osimertinib which is keeping me stable. So my question is about a change in my circumstances.  I have a holiday booked for my 15th April and doing a dream holiday because of fishbowls and just living my life. The sky in the ointment is I have started with a niggley pain in my left hip. It’s like a constant discomfort. Full movement but I limp and am in pain at rest and moving.  So the oncologist has done an xray and it was clear. But the radiography report hasn’t come back. The pain is still there. Anyway having a bone scan on the 3rd April. So I’m not worried about it I think it’s old age. So my question is. I am due to go away to America 12 days later.  So does anyone know what to do re my insurance.  If the test is positive for progression or the test is negative but obviously something is wrong either old age etc. will it affect insurance. Do I tell and ask the question now or wait till results and then ring insurance. Thank you in advance for reading this long question.

  • Hello Mazziewtbc and thanks for the post

I am very sorry to hear about your situation, this must be a difficult time for you.

I appreciate your question about travel insurance and suggest you wait for the test results back before speaking to the insurance company. I can't be sure but there may be an increase to the cost if something is found untoward.

I assume you have told your specialist team about this holiday and they have assessed you as fit to fly, if not this is something you should speak to them about.

Hopefully you will know more soon and can go on your dream holiday.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

Wishing you all the very best,

    Take care
