T3/T4

I am male age 87and my urological surgeon says “there is an obvious T3/T4 cancer on the left side” of the prostrate. I am very active and have none of the usual symptoms. He is recommending MRI scan, likely leading to prostrate biopsy and radiotherapy.
I am very concerned about the T3/T4 referance and would welcome any observations

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

It is difficult for us to tell you too much as we are not part of your hospital team. But what I can say is that the T3/T4 is referring to the stage of cancer that they think might be present.  But it is important to remember that until they have fully investigated the prostate it is hard to say for definite what stage things are at.  An MRI and biopsy will give them the information they need to work out what is going on and what treatment may be needed.

As you get more information about your situation do get back to us or maybe talk things through with a nurse on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Sarah.
