I fear I may have cancer

I have a large mass sitting at the top of my uterus

my dr referred me to the gynocologist but on my visit today she said there was no point doing a biopsy as she sees this all the time and sent me on my way,

the issue I have is my dad is a recovering cancer patient and I lost both my biological grandads to terminal cancer my dads sister had ovarian cancer too ,

I feel I am not being taken seriously and worried if I’m not taken seriously and it becomes worse it will be to late to treat

please advice me

  • Hi Rianne and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to learn that you have a mass that is causing you concern and that you have relatives who have had cancer.

I wondered if the doctor explained to you what they thought the mass was and whether or not they are recommending treatment such as surgery. I don't know if you had any tests like an ultrasound, often this may give the doctor enough information without having to do a biopsy.

It might be worth speaking to your GP about your concerns and for further clarification, as they may have had a letter from the hospital explaining what examination was done and if treatment is needed or whether you have been discharged back to the GP.

I hope this helps a little. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care, all the best.

    Jemma
