Worried for my partner

My partner had to go to a&e Wednesday night with suspected gallstones, did a ultrasound scan and no stones etc so sent him for a CT scan yesterday had the results within an hour and his appendix had burst so had the op last night to remove them but before he went for his op the dr came and told him they had found something else on his scan something called a “squiggle” whatever that means ans she didn’t believe holding anything back from anyone. My partner is 35 now and had testicular cancer when he was 21 so he asked her straight is it cancer and she said today she couldn’t say. Fast forward to today dr has come back and told him it looks like a “mass or a cluster” so what happens now as they haven’t told him even where they’ve seen this mass or cluster? She just told him he would come home in a few days from his op and have to come back see a radiologist I think she said? I’m worried sick for him and he’s stressing himself out over it whilst trying to recover from his op. Anyone have any advice or help please?

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am very sorry to hear about the situation your partner is in, I can appreciate your worry.

I realise this is worrying especially because of his previous cancer diagnosis. However, I am afraid that no one will know what this is until he has been seen again and possibly had further investigations.

Waiting for tests and investigations to be done can be difficult so try not to look online for answers as this could cause even more concern.

You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
