Uterine cancer in polyp

Hi, I had a total hysterectomy in August 2022 stage 1a.

Had a couple of minor bleeds since then, last one a week ago. Had mri last month, all clear and also saw my consultant who examined me and said everything was normal. I have atrophy, but did nothing to cause this slight bleed at all (no sex) or any strain at all. Is this normal?

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

The atrophy may be a cause for your bleeding but it is really only your GP or consultant that can make that judgement.

As you have had the bleeding since your scan I would make an appointment with your GP to discuss the cause.

Having a hysterectomy can be a cause of the atrophy because of changes in the hormones. Your GP may be able to suggest a lubricant to help with the dryness. You may find it helpful to read the NHS information on vaginal dryness here

    I hope this helps.

If you would like to ring and discuss any of this then you are more then welcome to do so.

Our helpline number is freephone 0808 800 4040 and the nurses are here Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
