Biopsy results

I had a biopsy 4.5 weeks ago after changed tin a mole and was told that I would get the results via a letter and if all was fine then no further action would be needed. Today I have received a letter asking me to go back into hospital at the end of July almost 4.5 months away but without any results. The hospital have said they cannot provide any results over the phone and now I’m unsure of what to think. I’m panicking a little but also unsure over the wait. Could anyone advise please?

  • Hello Bec1619 and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your situation this is understandably confusing for you.

Unfortunately no one here can say what may be going on but you clearly need some more answers before July.

I don't know if you have tried to speak to the doctors secretary who carried out the biopsy (if name known) that usually can be contacted through the main hospital switch board. If not then the dermatology department you were first seen to see if they can find anything else out for you.

Often the GP will also receive a letter from the hospital ( although this can sometimes take a while to come through) so they too maybe able to find out more for you.

I'm sorry we can't say much more but anything else would just be a guess, i'm afraid.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

I do hope everything turns out okay for you and you know more very soon,

    Take care

    Naomi
