Second time around breast cancer

I was blown away with a second diagnosis of cancer I had aggressive breast cancer in 2006 which I had an operation chemo and radio theraphy for lasted about 8 months in total. Then last august I got another diagnosis after finding two tumours  and traces in my lympth glands.

Now to the bit I am confused about I had my results through baring in mind in 2006 I had it in one breast this time around in both a 14cm tumour in the left breast a 3,5cm tumour in the right just behind the nipple, chemotheraphy reduces both tumours and I had my operation 3 days before christmas 2023 now after disection of the tumours I have the following:-

1) Right breast recurrance 16mm M5/U5

Core biopsy Grade 2 1LC ER8 PR8 Her2 Neg

2) Left breast 50mm P3 M5 U5

Core biopsy = Grade 3 ILC ER8 PR8. Her2 Low

Left axilla lymph node - positive Lb5

Histology - left 74mm residual ILC grade 2 8/8/low 12 of 14 nodes with 1 showing response with extra capsular spread RCB class 3.

Right 21mm grade 2 IDC focal lobular pattern associated DCIS 8/8/0, RCB class 11, I now have to have radiotheraphy on my left chest wall and although chemotheraphy treatments finished on the 22nd december 2023 my hair has still not grown back although that is the least of my worries.

I had a double masectomy on the 14.02.2024 and these were the results can anyone explain them too me in more detail or in laymans terms also laying out how worried I have to be am I overthinking it because I feel like my time is running out

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm sorry to read about about what's been happening. This must be a difficult time for you

I'm afraid no one on here can interpret test results. Your breast care team is the best person to interpret your results as they are familiar with all your medical details. You can try ringing the specialist’s secretary to arrange an appointment to speak to the specialist. Alternatively, you may have contact with a breast specialist nurse who may be easier to get hold of, leave a message with one of them if you can't get through and they should be able to call you back.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
