  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Hillman.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom's health struggles. It sounds like a challenging situation for both of you.

Since you mentioned she may have difficulty walking and standing on one leg, it might be a good idea to seek medical attention as the healthcare professionals can assess her condition and provide appropriate care. Also, iIt might be helpful to discuss your concerns and observations with them when you go to the hospital.

Hopefully, others who have had similar experiences will come along shortly to offer advice. That being said, if you feel like asking some questions to our team of nurses, they'd be happy to talk things over with you Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.

Wishing you and your mom all the best during this difficult time,

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

    I can appreciate your concern.

Your mum will need assessing again by doctors, in view of her new symptoms, and not being able to weight bear on one of her legs. She may have a weakness or possible bone fracture, and this may need treatment to stabilize this. Unfortunately, it is not possible for me to be very specific, as to what might be suggested once she is in hospital being reviewed.

We have information on our website about secondary bone cancer and its treatments,

I hope that you get to find out more soon,

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Yours sincerely,

    Vanda
