Immunotherapy rejection

I have stage 4 stomach cancer and was given a prognosis of 3months.I had chemo which had a really good impact but was stopped after 6months.I have been put forward for immunotherapy three times and been rejected.
can someone tell me what the criteria is to be accepted?

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry but we won't know the exact criteria that has been used, as this will have to be obtained from your hospital consultant.

There are NICE treatment guidelines, but also the NHS Cancer Drugs Fund, which hospitals can apply to, for additional cancer drug funding.

There is also a individual funding request, which a patient's consultant can apply to.

Your hospital cancer specialist should be able to outline which process, your situation relates to. As you can see, it is complicated, and we are not able to explain, as they will have the information about which process was used for your situation.

I hope that this is of some use,

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Yours sincerely,

    Vanda
