Alarming symptoms

Hello,

I hope you are all well.

I’m writing this as I’m at a bit of a loss here and don’t know where else to turn to as I feel like I’m not being taken seriously by my doctor.

this is a bit of a long one so please bare with me. I had symptoms start some time ago which have progressed over the year. To start I had very vague symptoms; indigestion, upper abdominal pain, nausea, changes in stool etc. I then had a CT with contrast which showed some sub-capsular tumours in spleen (they said likely benign) as well as some enlarged lymph nodes in my abdomen. They told me nothing to worry about and sent me on my way.

one year later and things have gotten worse. The pain is agonising and spreads all the way into my back, I feel sick to my stomach, I have lost my appetite and with that have lost 40lbs in about a year, my stool is very very light in colour (almost no colour), I also have oral thrush quite bad that isn’t going away with treatment and keep breaking out in rashes all over my body.

My GP thought from this that he would run some auto immune blood tests. It then came back that my Rheumatoid Factor is at 200 (the abnormal level is 14) however all other tests from the panel where negative which leads away from auto immune and infection and is linked to cancer. I have also had a blood clot which is also linked.

it’s also worth noting that I have a bony growth on my arm (definitely bone as it’s rock hard and feels like my other bones) this began to grow 2-3 month ago and is very painful and continues to grow.

with this my GP sent me for another scan which showed some enlargement in my spleen and some subtle changes to the tumours in my spleen, as well as some mild growth in my abdominal lymph nodes but nothing else worth noting.

I feel like something sinister is being missed out here, without sounding crazy I think I’m might have pancreatic cancer. I am in absolute AGONY. I haven’t been able to see my child without supervision as I physically can’t care for him in this pain. I have even lost a job as I wasn’t able to go into work and currently have friends having to look after me as Im struggling to do anything. The doctor won’t even have me in for an appointment to see him. So far he has prescribed me Buscopan.

I’m at a complete loss here, I feel so horribly Ill and can’t explain the pain I’m in. I don’t know what to do and need help. What can I do here as I genuinely am very frightened.

if some could PLEASE help

  • Hi Matt just to say the Nurses will be in at 9am tomorrow so they will see your post and give you their best advice , it must be an awful worry for you ,the nurses are in 9-5 every week day so will help you .

  • Hi Jenny, thanks for letting me know. Very kind of you!

  • Hello and thank you for your post.

I am very sorry to hear about the symptoms you have and I can appreciate that this must be a worrying time for you. However, I am sorry to say that we are not able to tell you what is the matter.

I am not sure if you have any appointments coming up with the hospital team, if you have not I wonder if you would want to contact them, via the consultant's secretary. It might help to let them know about your symptoms and the results of your latest scan.

You could also try and get a GP appointment, perhaps a telephone call to talk about the results of the latest scan you had and your current symptoms.

You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
