Is it the right time to restart treatment

My husband is still in hospital following Sepsis, he still has a drain in his gallbladder and although better in himself is not 100% his oncologist wants to press on with a lower dose of his new treatment I’m worried that it’s too soon given what he’s been through but he is stage 4 RCC with extensive metastasis so have we really got a choice?

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

    I can understand your concerns.

I think that his doctor has weighed up the pros and cons given the current situation. Often reduced dose treatment may still help with any current symptoms, or help delay other symptoms, and help improve quality of life. There may be a window of opportunity for this to happen, and that might be the doctor's thinking, but I don't know.

Hopefully you can talk this over in more detail soon with his doctors.

    Kind regards,

    Vanda
