I have had a sarcoma removed from my hip in November and just having the final few days of radiotherapy.

I have just had  cat scan and have 2 small nodules on my lung. The consultant has recommended I wait 8 weeks for further scan to compare. I have been advised this is cancer. They were talking about radiotherapy rod ablasions but not worth doing now as i might get more? Then they can do all at once.Does this seem a long time to wait? They mention referring to another hospital. Is there anything else that can be done in the meantime just very anxious.

Thank you

  • Hello Jacsprat and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your recent treatment and appreciate what a concern it must be knowing you have some lung mets.

In some cases it is appropriate to monitor the situation and carry out follow up scans rather than treating straight away so hang in there for now if you can. A wait of 2 or 3 months is a common length of time between scans for this type of thing.

It seems like your team are referring you to UCLH for their assessment of your circumstances and hopefully you will know much more soon.

We have some general information about lung mets here but unfortunately cannot say what is best treatment wise for you, this is a decision best answered by the doctors and nurses involved in your care.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

Wishing you all the very best,

    Naomi
