Impotency

My husband has completed his radiotherapy and hormone injections, treating his prostate cancer. We had both accepted that he would continue to not be able to get an erection but we were actually surprised to find this wasn't the case. His PSA level has increased slightly and he is again struggling to fully get an erection. I am just worried that the tumour may have started to grow again. Is it usual for the treatment to have a delayed affect in this area?

  • Hello Jlumb and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your husbands treatment for prostate cancer and that his psa seems to be rising alongside some other symptoms/possible late side effects.

Unfortunately no one here without being involved in his care can say what may be causing this and it is best to let your husbands doctors know so they can assess what may be going on. If needed they can run some more tests and make suggestions on things that may help.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes to you both,

    Naomi
