Coping with Life after oesophageal cancer can be a tricky time, with the worry of recurrence, what to look for and getting back to your new normal.

Your team will have gone through your follow-up, but ultimately it is getting to know your body. If there are any changes or symptoms that are new to you then contact your GP or your specialist nurse (CNS) at the hospital. They will be able to assess you and decide if these symptoms need investigation as a potential 'flare-up' of the cancer or if it is unrelated.

I'm sorry you have gone through this on your own and you are having problems. Cancer can affect people in so many different ways. There is information on how to cope with cancer on our website and Macmillan has financial and emotional support including free counselling. If you feel you need more physical help/ support then do talk to your GP as this may be able to come through social services or Age UK may also know what is available in your area. 

The UK charity GUTS also offers support to those living with cancers of the digestive system and may be useful to you.

Thank you.   Yes on own,I  cry myself to sleep at times,but I talk to my mum and dad a lot now,I know they awa waiting for me. I am  going to end my life soon

It can be so overwhelming to go through what you are going through especially if you are feeling alone.  But there is help and support available for you.  You can call Samaritans on freephone 116 123 who are there to listen to you when you are having feelings like this.

This must be such a difficult time for you. Please do speak to your GP and/or your hospital team John about how low in mood you are they will also be able to offer you some support.

Yes have been contacted by police/ambulance, but I sent them away, there is no help from anyone, My GP gets all wrong, boxes and boxes of pills.    I am now wearing a catheter ,horrible, have blood clots, am suffering falls etc etc.

   My life is over, like a child looking forward to Christmas, mine is looking forward to death. I have just one more thing to do whilst alive, once finished, my life finishes

John I saw your post and despite hearing your sadness and despair there is still a lot to live for ,why don't you give it one last shot at reaching out to people ,if you reach out to them they will reach out to you and believe it or not people really do care and there is a lot of help out there but you have to reach out for it ,you mention your parents and I'm sure they are watching over you and willing you to carry on ,I'm not saying its easy but if you could just get over what's already happened then take each day or even just each moment as it comes and deal with it things could get better ,believe me when I say many people are in a similar position to yourself and would be the ideal people to talk to because we all need someone to talk to ,keep in touch John and let us know how you are doing x
