Recently diagnosed, niggling pains in breast

Hi I'm due to start chemo on Monday and have had my pre chemo consultation today by phone. As expected I forgot to ask one of my questions that has been worrying me. For the last week I have been getting some discomfort in my breast. Niggly little pains and sometimes a shooting pain. Not all the time, just every now and again. Mentioned to a nurse last week who said probably from all the biopsies. Biopsies were done a few weeks ago, would this be causing these niggling pains now?

  • Hi Pippin what a shame you forgot to ask but to be fair you probably would have gotten the same reasons as the last time you mentioned it but to me its very important to know that there's nothing more going on ,it plays on your mind ,maybe you could get in touch with them before Monday or if not I would definitely mention it on Monday ,Best Wishes for the start of your treatment I hope it goes very well for you x

  • Thank you, will mention it on Monday.

  • Hello Pippin24 and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you are awaiting some chemotherapy and appreciate you having questions.

It isn't unusual to experience some pain and discomfort after breast biopsies. This can last several weeks for some people but if it worsens or you notice other symptoms alongside the discomfort do let your team know.

I hope everything goes well with your treatment but please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care

    Naomi

  • Thank you Naomi, I gave been a bit concerned as biopsies were done in January. However did mention it at my chemo treatment today. They said not to worry, it's probably to do with the  nerves in my boob. Think I just need time chill out about it now.
