Bladder cancer

5 days ago I had a cystoscope and a tumour was seen approximately 1cms. The consultant thinks/hopes it a small possibly non invasive one.

im in for removal and maybe chemotherapy at the same time on the 8th March but I'm due to go on holiday on the 18march.for 16 days

if I needed to start a course on chemotherapy would having this break be a problem ??

  • Hello Rhodes and thank you for your post

I am sorry to hear about your situation although it is reassuring the doctor thinks the tumour is small and non invasive.

Without being involved in your care it is difficult to say exactly if chemotherapy will be needed or the amount and frequency you will need. Often chemotherapy is given into the bladder after the tumour has been removed and in non invasive bladder tumours only one treatment may be needed. However there are other times when patients will receive a weekly treatment for several weeks. There is more information about this here.

Do speak with your own team about going on holiday and how many session of chemotherapy you may need.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Wishing you all the best

    Naomi
