Cold hands

Hi. I was diagnosed with PDAC about 5 weeks ago. As the cancer was in the head of the pancreas it caused the bile duct to be blocked. I had a stent put in to address the jaundice this caused.

For the past two weeks I have had cold hands as noted by myself and my wife. Is this normal. I start chemo on Wednesday.

  • Hello PDAC2024 and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your situation and are about to start chemotherapy.

Sometimes pancreatic cancer can affect blood sugar levels and this may in turn cause cold hands so you may wish to ask your GP or practice nurse to check these levels for you with a simple finger prick test.

Do let your specialist team or GP know about your cold hands and any other symptoms you may have noticed so they can assess you properly.

Cold hands can be of course be caused by many different things and it may be unrelated to your current situation.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment

    Take care

    Naomi
