Lump behind ears and doctors say it's nothing.

Hi everyone,

I came here for a little advice.

I have been to my gp 3 times in the last 4 months about a lump probally a little bigger than a pea behind my right ear that I have had for years, and a a weird shaped lump behind My left ear that came up when I first went to see the gp this one being a random shape. I have recently in the last week or so noticed another one growing below the one on the left.

The gp has basicly said its nothing to worry about. They didn't refer me to see anyone just did some bloods that came back normal.

I am really worried as this new one has started growing but I don't want to go back to the gp again as they said to me not to worry but I just feel like something is wrong and they won't listen. What should I do.

  • Hello and thank you for posting on Cancer Chat,

While I know you may not want to go back to your GP, if you are worried I am afraid it is the only way to know if there is anything the matter. I am sorry but we are unable to say if there is.

We always advise people to go back to their GP with persistent changes to get them checked out. Of course, there may not be anything serious the matter but it is always a good idea to go back.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
