Need some advice

At the start of this year I got a really bad cough which I had for a month, then after a few back an forth with the GP they sent me off with some antibiotics as they said I had tonsillitis, I mentioned to them that I had lymphoma in the past as I get really scared because I felt my glands come up in my neck.

I currently taken all of my antibiotics prescribed to me. But my glands are still up, which has me worried, I know that the GP send my blood off the same day I when for my appointment, as they said they would rush it to hematology where I had my treatment 5 years ago but they didn't say anything about it to me so I assumed it was not lymphoma/cancer related.

I have a appointment to go for another blood test and appointment if my glands are still up which I will go and do

But I'm so worried it could be another cancer or something scary like that.

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms and I can appreciate your concern that they could be related to the lymphoma you had.

It's good to know you are following advice and getting your bloods re-done, I wonder if an ultrasound scan will also be needed.  You could ask your GP about this or if you have the contact details of your lymphoma team at the hospital you could let them know what is happening.

I realise that you are worried that your cancer could have come back, but of course, this does not mean it necessarily has. Please remember that you can still get other illnesses that can cause coughing and lymph nodes to be enlarged.

I hope you know more about your situation soon. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
