Prostate cancer spread

I’ve had surgery to remove my prostate but at the follow up appointment the cancer had spread to my seminal vesicles which were removed. Cancer cells now in seminal ducts. Awaiting appointment with oncology. Risk now T3B. Would like some comment on prognosis as I forgot to ask

  • Hello and thank you for posting,

Unfortunately, as nurses, we can not give a medical opinion about your prognosis. Your oncology team will be able to talk to you about this, but they may want to focus on your treatment options first and see how you respond.

What I can provide is information on locally advanced prostate cancer, which stages T3 and T4 are known as, and the prognostic tool that helps doctors decide what treatment to use.

There are prostate cancer statistics that discuss prognosis (survival rates) on our website here, but again do talk things through with a member of your team or specialist nurse (CNS) to get information accurate to your situation.

Take care and you may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040, and the lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
