TACE and liver biopsy with HCC

Hi, I have advanced liver cancer, and have just had a liver biopsy and TACE procedure done a week ago on some disease progression that was treatable. Could you please advise me if it is normal to be in moderate / high pain after a week ?

  • Hello and thanks for your post

After a liver biopsy and trans arterial chemoembolisation (TACE) it's quite common to experience some pain and discomfort for a week or so. You can read more about this on our website here.

However, as we are not involved in your care, we would advise you to contact your specialist team or the nurse specialist about this as they are familiar with all your medical details and will be able to advise you further. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.

I hope things improve for you soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
