Symptoms

I have been diagnosed with bowel cancer a 5 cm tumour, the only real symptoms i had were mucus and a bit of blood in my stools sometimes , and a feeling on my left hand side which doesn’t hurt , i don’t feel fatigued and i don’t think i am losing weight, i get around ok and doing all the things i have always done waiting for a ct scan on the 14th , is that a good sign that i have limited symptoms. ?
thank you

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I don't think you can really tell anything about the cancer until the doctors have got all the results together and the pathologist has looked at the cancer under a microscope. It is good however to hear that you are not having any symptoms.

Everyone's cancer is very different and each patient is discussed in detail at a formal meeting where all the doctors involved in your care work out the stage and grade of your cancer. You can read more about this here

I can understand that it can be unsettling waiting to find out the results but try if you can to take one day at a time.

If at any time you would like to ring and discuss any of this with one of the nurses on the helpline then you are more then welcome to do so.

Our helpline number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are here Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
