BCC medication advice

Hi,

I have a BCC on my thigh, I started treatment 2 weeks ago, I was given Bascellex to apply 5 times a week, I've applied this now for 9 times in total. I rang GP out of hours on Friday night to ask if I should stop taking this as I had terrible pain in both armpits, i was told to carry on over the weekend with ibuprofen and contact my dermatologist on Monday. The pain is do much worse today and ibuprofen doesn't seem to be making a difference, what is best to do? Thank you in advance.

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am so sorry for the delay in getting back to you but the system doesn't seem to have notified the nurses of your post

I hope by now you are feeling better and have had chance to speak to the dermatologist about the side effects you were experiencing.

Unfortunately bascellex is known to cause flu like symptoms that can include swelling on your lymph nodes and pain, which can be very miserable for people. It sounds like you were doing the right thing calling the out of hours GP and taking ibuprofen and paracetamol.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
