Cancer returning

Hi, I care for my husband after his laryngectomy. He had had 6 weeks of radiotherapy to remove a tumour and that was successful. 3 months later I recognised signs that he might have another. He had and was given a laryngectomy 4 and a half months ago. He is still struggling to swallow and has excessive amounts of mucus. I am worried that he now has another tumour.

  • Hello Marybam and thank you for your post

I am sorry to hear about your husbands past treatment for larygeal cancer and the side effects/symptoms he is currently experiencing.

No one here can say if what he is now experiencing is linked to the cancer coming back again or the ongoing side effects of treatments, so it is best if he sees his doctor.

His doctor can properly assess him and if needed run some more tests to find out more.

I hope everything turns out okay.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the best,

    Naomi
