Hello and thanks for your post,
I am sorry to hear that your son is going through treatment for oesophageal cancer. He may have got the results back from his blood test if he had it done on Friday.
The pale lips may be an indication that he is anaemic. If your son has not got his results back yet then I would encourage him to contact the hospital to find out his results and to let them know about his white lips. Your son may have been given a chemo helpline number and if he has any concerns about his health or any new symptoms then he should contact the helpline.
I do hope this helps.
If you need to ring or get in touch about anything else our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the helpline nurses are here Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
All the best,
Catherine
Hi thanks for answering but my son hasn't started treatment as they are waiting on a pet scan and that was 2 weeks ago but I can't remember his name noticed Kevin colour and they took blood but heard nothing back. His lips are pure white. He is on iron at the moment
Hello and thank you for getting back to us. Such a stressful time for you all.
If your son has been started on iron tablets it can take a little time for them to kick in.
I am sure you will soon hear from the hospital about the PET and blood results but if you or he becomes concerned with how he is feeling do give the hospital a ring and speak to someone like a specialist nurse (CNS) or his doctor.
You or your son may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
Take care,
Sarah.
He has been on the iron from November I just see him going down hill but will contact them
