Previous breast cancer in 2022 (double MX). Now recurrent back pain, head aches, shoulder blade. Have I got cancer again?

Hi all,

Sorry if this is a triggering post. I don’t really know where else to go.

At 28years old, I found out I had Paget’s disease in my right breast April 2022. I had a double mastectomy in June 2022. They said it was all caught early and no further treatment needed. They did mention something about micro invasion though, so I don’t know…

I’ve always had a sore back, but it’s got so much worse lately. I’ve been having headaches (eyes tested and all ok) and occasionally double vision.

I’ll be honest…, I’m pretty convinced my cancer is back but in a different part of my body. Is this normal with Paget’s disease? is this normal? Do I go back to my breast team or my GP?

Sorry I realise I’m rambling. If you’ve got this far, thank you for the patience haha x

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to learn that you are having symptoms that are causing you concern. If you have a breast care nurse (CNS) it would be worth letting them know, or you could contact your GP. Unfortunately, we cannot say what is causing your symptoms, but it does not mean they are being caused by cancer, especially with the Paget's disease being caught early. However, it is always best to be safe and get your symptoms checked.

I hope you can get seen soon. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care, all the best

    Jemma
