Chemotherapy

Hi

I am waiting for my results back from the ProSigna test to see if Chemotherapy will be beneficial.

I phoned my Breast Care Nurse today who advised that the results haven't come back yet.

She explained how there are 3 levels of risks.  If I'm a high risk, and I'm told that I need chemotherapy.  Am I able to refuse this treatment?

I'm definitely going to be having Radiotherapy followed by Hormone Tablets for 10 years.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I see that your breast care nurse has confirmed that If your Prosigna test results came back as high risk then you would be offered chemotherapy. This is to reduce the risk of your breast cancer coming back in the future.

You don't have to have any treatment that you don't want and only you can decide what is best for you moving forward once given all the information by your breast care team, when the results from the Prosigna test are known.

I hope this is of use. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
