Soursop tea bags

Hi,

I am wanting to healthier etc, I read that the above is a great source of fibre. Also good anti inflammatory and “anti cancer”. I don’t want to drink any without consulting my consultant. I just have a lumpectomy on Friday (breast cancer).  I have been told I shouldn’t need chemo and will need around a week of radiotherapy. The cancer is 7/8 oestrogen driven. I wondered if the nurses on here have heard of this tea? As a complimentary therapy at all?

kind Regards

  • Hello Rooftile and thank you for your post

I am sorry to hear you are currently having treatment for breast cancer.

It is good you are wanting to look after yourself and live as healthy a life as possible after treatment. As you say do ask your own specialist team before taking any supplements or complementary therapies, just to be on the safe side.

Like many complementary therapies I am led to believe there is not enough sufficient evidence at the moment to suggest that this soursop tea (also known as graviola) can help to treat cancer. There is more information about this here and here that you might find useful to read.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
