Locally advanced prostate cancer and SABR

I'm being offered 20 doses of RT. Is SABR a  suitable treatment for my cancer.

  • Hello martiny and thank you for your post

Unfortunately without being involved in any direct patient care we cannot advise on suitable treatments or give a second opinion.

Whilst sabr ( sterotactic radiotherapy) may be suitable for some prostate cancer patients as seen here it isn't available at all hospitals.

It would be best to discuss this option with your specialist doctor to find out more. If they felt you were a suitable candidate to be considered for this but it isn't available at your cancer centre they may consider referring you to the nearest centre for treatment.

Do discuss this with your team who can decide the best treatment for yourself at this time.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
