I'm afraid no one here can say where this blood on the toilet tissue has come from. It is reassuring that your doctor couldn't see anything on inspection of your anal area and the FIT tests have both come back negative.

I am sure you are aware that there can be other reasons for rectal bleeding other than cancer and sometimes there may be no obvious cause. Of course if you continue to notice blood or are having any other worrying symptoms to discuss them with your GP.

Occasionally the foods we eat can discolour our poo so that's also worth bearing in mind.

Thank you Naomi for replying.  According to the NHS guidelines,  if the first screening test for colon-rectal  cancer( FIT  test) is negative, there are not any reason for other follow-up procedures like colonscopy. Is that correct? But if I keep having certain symptoms ( may be separately) can I  have the right to insist at the GP to refer me for a colonscopy? It would be 100% secured in terms of any diagnosis. As far as I know FIT test may not detect cancer in the proximal part of intestine and stomach. Thank you a lot

What is an FIT test

It stands for Fecal immunochemical test and it is for looking occult blood in your Gastrointestinal tract , caused by cancer or any other inflammatory diseases. This kind of blood is not visible but under the microscope.

as someone has already said rectal bleeding can be caused by all sorts of things, but persistent bleeding (over 2 weeks) in my opinion is in need of a follow up.

do you have a family history and similar types of symptoms? My daughter had a negative test result only 4 months prior to being diagnosed with bowel cancer. But we have lynch syndrome in the family, with 3 generations under 50 having bowel cancer. Just follow your instincts, and if not happy, push for more tests.

If you are bleeding they send referral same time as fit test as they know that blood will be picked up in it , but have to be seen to do the fit test first.

How old your daughter is? After 4 months it means they caught cancer at early stage.

It' s been found anemia was related to your fit test ?.
