  • Hello and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to learn you have prostate cancer. I hope you find the following information helpful.

The information you have provided talks about the grade of cancer (Gleason score), the stage of cancer, how far it has spread, and the position and size of the tumour. This gives the doctors information, about the cancer, so they can check that the cancer has been completely removed and whether or not further treatment is needed. We have information on our website about the grade and stage of prostate cancer here.

It is good news that following the surgery, your PSA level has come down to 0.05, which suggests that the cancer has been completely removed.

As you can see from the above link pT2 means that the cancer is contained in the prostate gland. When the doctors remove the cancer, they will also remove a clear area surrounding the cancer known as the margin, so they can be sure that the cancer has been fully removed and if further treatment may be needed. The information I have found suggests the Tp2+ means that the margin was found to have some cancer cells.

The best person to discuss this with is your specialist or nurse specialist (CNS) if you have one as they know your situation and they will be able to talk you through the findings from the surgery in more detail and how they will follow you up after the surgery.

I hope this is helpful. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care, all the best

    Jemma
