  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your dad. It is always unsettling hearing news and not knowing what it all means.

At this stage his doctors are getting all the information that they can get from any scans that he has so they can find out more.

Even though it is helpful and supportive hearing from other members of the forum everyone's situation is very different so it is difficult to compare one person with another.

Your dad may find it helpful if he has a member of the family with him when he attends any appointments.  There is often a bit of hanging around waiting for the scan and any further tests and it can be helpful having someone there to support him and also listen in to any doctors appointment.

If the doctors feel that they need more information (and if they are able to) they may want to take a biopsy.

Try not to overthink it for now. It may well not be as bad as you think. Keep yourself busy and your mind on other things. It can take a week or so to get all the test results back but it is important that the doctors get all the information they need.

You may find it helpful to talk this all through with one of the helpline nurses. We are here Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm and our number is freephone 0808 800 4040.

    All the best,

    Catherine
