Biopsy result process

Hello

i I had a biopsy a few days ago for suspected womb cancer.  I called hospital today and was told my results are booked in for review on 29 January.  Do all results go for review even if negative for cancer or only those that will need follow up action/treatment?

    Individual hospitals can vary in the way patients receive their results. They can be given to face to face at a review appointment even when it is good news. So it doesn’t always mean that you have cancer.

    I appreciate waiting when you are worried is stressful but hopefully you will know more soon.

    the review meeting took place on Monday but I am still waiting on results.  It has been 3 weeks since the biopsy and over 4 since I was referred and I have not heard anything.  I’m totally sure I am fine but do you have any idea how long it takes doctors to send letters (I have been told any follow up will be by letter) after these internal hospital review meetings take place?  I am a bear of little patience at the best of times!!

    Unfortunately, there is an NHS backlog causing delays in processing laboratory results, so waiting a few weeks is not unusual at the moment. Unfortunately, we cannot tell you exactly how long you will have to wait for a letter to be sent out to get your biopsy results as there will be some regional variations in different NHS Trusts.

    But, if you don't hear anything by the end of the week, then do ask your GP to enquire, or ring the specialist/consultant secretary for an update.
