Cgin/hysterectomy

Hi so I've got H CGIN and cin2. I had letz feq years back then I got this and had another lettz which wasn't successful. I was ment to have another beginning of December but they couldn't perform another so they've said a hyrestomectomy is needed already got my letter so quick for the hospital. My main concern is the postive margins althou the biopsies cornfim pre cancer cgin etc given the complex of cgin and still postive margins.  Does this mean deeper in the cervix/tissues there could be an invasion as they didn't get clear margins.  As I've read sometimes on a second boipsie there can be if the first one doesn't have clear margins of this type. Stressed is an over statement . I have many symptoms.  Water discharge with a horrid smell at times (I bath shower everyday sometimes 2 times a day) belly/rib/back pains not sure if they are because of this. Fatigue really bad too again not sure if it becase of all this. Bleeding heavier than i used to but also bleeding after everytime I have intercourse . Go my app in 1 weeks time

  • Hi and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to learn of your situation, and I can appreciate this is a difficult time for you.

CGIN means there are changes to the glandular cells that line the inside of the cervix (endocervix). You mentioned that you now need to have a hysterectomy and that this has been arranged very quickly. I can understand this has caused you some concern.

If a further LLETZ is not possible, then after discussion, your doctor will have considered a hysterectomy for you. This surgery will remove more tissue than a LLETZ and therefore will take into account any previous tissue margins and results. This surgery will be aiming to cure, and avoid the need for further treatment. After hysterectomy, sometimes vaginal vault smears are recommended, but not always. Again your doctor could advise you further.

As they know your situation, it would be best to discuss this with the team at the hospital when you have your appointment in a week, and they will be able to give you more definite answers. Also, it would be worth letting them know that you are having heavy bleeding and about the other symptoms that you are having. I think you are possibly linking these symptoms together in your mind right now, and these current symptoms may not be directly related to your present situation.  If your symptoms get worse in the meantime you could contact your GP. They can check you, and take swabs, and check for an infection there.

There is good information on Jo's Trust website, which may be helpful.
