Hi, my mum has cancer which is being prevented from spreading any further with Chemotherapy tablets. Recently she has had to have her lungs drained. I just want to know if this means we might lose her soon? I’m getting worried. But I’d rather know.

Hello and thanks for posting,
I can appreciate that you would want to know more about your mum's situation.
Unfortunately, we are not going to be able to be very specific in our reply, as we are not directly involved with your mum's current clinical care. Fluid collecting on the lungs can be caused by a few medical conditions, and sometimes this may suggest that there is activity from microscopic spread of cancer cells in the lungs. Her doctors may be hoping that the chemotherapy slows down the cancer, and reduces her symptoms. With her permission, they would be able to give you some feedback regarding her overall situation and outlook (prognosis).
I'm sorry that we can't be of more help, and hope that you get to find out more soon.
Kind regards,
Vanda
