2nd lump other breast

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in march - treated successfully and continue with tamoxifen.

I have found another lump on other breast, it is more or less identical place, size and texture but in the opposite side (like mirror image) Is it likely to be cancer again or is too soon as it was fully checked in march/April.

im back for scan 11th dec for checks.

thank you.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm afraid there is no way of knowing in advance if this new breast lump is anything to be worried about until it is investigated.

I appreciate that waiting in circumstances like this is never easy but I’m afraid there is no real way round this. Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help. But until you know more it’s natural to worry.

I hope you know more about your situation soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene

  • Thank you, I know it’s difficult to answer but is it likely? Can this happen or do you think it would have been picked up when I was scanned previously. Xx

  • Hello Elrio, and thank you for getting back to us.

I'm sorry you are in this situation, but as my colleague said there is no way of knowing what this lump is until it has been investigated.

Take care of yourself and hopefully, you will know more soon.

    Sarah.
