Ureter stent

Hi,

I have had a stent fitted 5 days ago, this was quite painful to start with but has subsided.

I understand that some side effects may be permenant, like pain when passing urine, kidney discomfort etc, but I also have constant pain in my legs and bottom, and a constant pressure feeling on my bladder, is this normal?

Am I just not giving my self time to recover fully?

Will I be able to tell the difference between a side effect and an infection?

Kind regards

  • Hi and thank you for your post.

I am unsure what your exact situation is and where in the body you had the stent inserted. Five days is a short time since you had the procedure and recovery may take a little while. As time goes by you should start to feel better soon. However, if you find the symptoms you are having don't improve or are getting worse, or if you develop signs of having an infection such as having a temperature or pain, do let someone from your medical team such as your cancer nurse specialist (CNS) or your GP.

I hope this reply is helpful. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Yours sincerely,
